Become a Scaffolder

Builds, assembles, dismantles, and secures scaffolding structures required for shipbuilding and repair operations.

Your Mission

The Scaffolder builds, assembles, dismantles, and secures scaffolding required for shipbuilding and ship repair work. They ensure safe and efficient access to elevated work areas for other trades, playing a key role in maintaining operational continuity and safety on the shipyard.

Main Responsibilities

  • Secure and mark out the work area before starting operations.
  • Prepare, clean, and organize the worksite.
  • Identify, sort, and transport scaffolding components to assembly areas.
  • Assemble metal structures on the ground and erect them at height.
  • Install and dismantle scaffolding in compliance with safety standards.
  • Check the conformity and stability of scaffolding before use.
  • Guide cranes or lifting platforms during assembly operations.
  • Store and maintain equipment after use.

Working Conditions

  • Outdoor work, often at height.
  • Exposure to weather conditions, noise, and dust.
  • Excellent physical condition required, including the ability to handle heavy loads.
  • High level of attention to safety and vigilance.
  • Protective equipment and tools provided by the company.

Profile Required

Technical Skills:

  • Knowledge of scaffolding assembly and dismantling procedures.
  • Ability to identify scaffolding components and their proper use.
  • Proficiency in installing safety harnesses and lifelines.
  • Understanding of regulatory signage related to scaffolding use.
  • Basic knowledge of load calculations for platforms.

Personal Qualities:

  • Strong sense of safety and discipline.
  • Team spirit and effective communication.
  • Organization and methodical work approach.
  • Vigilance and attention to detail.

Required Training:

  • Minimum education level: Form 3 (or equivalent).
  • Specific training in scaffolding assembly/dismantling recommended.

  • Speed and efficiency of assembly and dismantling operations.
  • Strict adherence to HSE regulations.
  • Quality of coordination with other trades.
